Hudson Valley Landscapes

Artists' Reception: Saturday, Nov. 18, 5-7 pm

November 15, 2017 through December 31, 2017

Carrie Haddad Gallery is pleased to end the year 2017 with a showcase of Hudson Valley Landscapes by gallery artists such as Jane Bloodgood-Abrams, Leigh Palmer, Harry Orlyk and several others, November 15 – December 31st. This genre is close to our hearts living here in the Hudson Valley, a place that was sacred to the Hudson River School of painters like Thomas Cole and Frederic Church in the 1800s, and proves to be a persevering and constant source of inspiration for artists in all media today. These painters have dedicated their career to capturing nature’s intricate forms and subtleties; by breaking down forms or using a photorealistic approach the paintings mingle a realistic setting with a fascination for the sublime. The impact of these contemporary paintings are particularly relevant during a time of dramatic social change. The experience of having instantaneous access to information, people and other material possessions via technology and social media is an immersive one. In a strange way, this constant engagement in fact distances us from the experience of the present moment. Collectively embracing the convergence of earth and sky, these artists challenge us to slow down and revel in the beauty and power that brightens each day.

This group exhibit will feature paintings by Bill Sullivan, Don Bracken, Eileen Murphy, Harry Orlyk, Jane Bloodgood-Abrams, John Kelly, Joseph Maresca, Judy Reynolds, Leigh Palmer, Tracy Helgeson and Richard Britell, as well as charcoal landscape drawings by Sue Bryan. On view November 15 to December 31, 2017, an opening reception for the artists will be held on Saturday, November 18, from 5 – 7 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
