Jeanette Fintz

My most recent paintings are about giving structure to something intangible, ephemeral, in- flux, or conversely, revealing the dissolving of structure that has been. The structure itself is temporary but it is a dream-moment that we live in. I use two layered symmetrical grids selectively to plot my journey through the imagined space. The fragmented geometry becomes a vocabulary of gestures. I don’t know why precisely I am attracted the two grids but they create an instability and interrelationship I am drawn to. The plan, the diagram, choreographed movement/moment is always formed out of a responsiveness to an imagined foil, another presence. Erasures and revisions, then, something affirmed here or there as a Plane, as a Line or Shape. All edges are subject to dissolution.. trace echoes of other lived moments.
