Kingsley Parker

I am very concerned about the environment. I have done solo exhibits on our Oceans (Oceans Apart), Over fishing (Living in Harm’s Way) Struggling forests (A World of Hurt), rampant land development at the expense of open land (Trouble in the Terroir) and Rising flood waters (Salt). I use a variety of media and materials. I enjoy reading and learning about issues and creating my visual responses to bring these issues forward, pertinent, and undeniable. I use humor often to blunt the topics and let viewers decide for themselves.

I was one of three artists chosen to ‘exhibit in greater depth’
2020 ReInstitute, Millerton, NY, Together in Isolation (Covid 19), Over 70 artists made art inside sealed
uniform plastic vitrines that were then buried in the ground, with the transparent lid at ground level
aided with a small solar light to give visability to the art inside. The ‘exhibit’ was outside, viewed at night
for small gatherings of people. The art was scattered around a large barn and pond. The pieces glowed
in the darkness bringing a very somber, poignant moment to the collective responses to covid.
